I have always been someone with one of those truly eclectic tastes in music. The kind of person that has playlists that swing wildly from bubblegum 90s pop to 60s rock, and back again through emo and classical-there is no common thread to any of it! However, I am also the kind of person who hyper-fixates on things sometimes and that is why for the last 6 years my most listened-to artist on Spotify has been Taylor Swift! In my defence, she has so many styles across 9 albums that she basically ticks all my favourite boxes.

I'm seeing the Spice Girls this week! The actual bloody Spice Girls! Can you imagine how freaking excited I am? 


I was 9 years old when the Spice Girls burst on to the scene-all mouthy, and loud, and screaming about Girl Power. I was in awe of these amazing women-much like the rest of the world-and instantly knew that I wanted to be one of them. You could say I turned into a superfan overnight. 
Not content with just listening to their music, I had to have ALL the memorabilia, I even went as far as to subscribe to the Stage newspaper (real fans know why) to see if I could get the same opportunity they did. 
During the countdown to this Saturday's gig I have been feeling very nostalgic for those early years of Spice, and it got me thinking about all the things the ultimate Spice Girls fan owned during their heyday, so here is my list of the top 5 things every Spice Girls #BestFanEver absolutely had to have:

You might have noticed a wee trend going around Twitter at the moment which seems to have taken on a life of it's own. I'm of course talking about the #7Fav...hashtag that has been trending in a variety of forms over that last week or so. So far we've had TV shows, movies, and albums but I can see this going on for a while. I will admit I have been inspired by it somewhat in that I think it is a brilliant idea for a few blog posts so I hope you don't mind if I share a few of my favourites for a bit. I think you can really tell a lot about a person by what they consider their favourites, what it is that stands out in their mind, what they deem special above all else. I'd actually be intrigued to know what people think of me based of my choices so please feel free to let me know in the comments of any of these posts.

First up I shared my #7favAlbums on Twitter a couple of days ago so I thought I'd start with that and give you a little more than I could in 140 characters.

Some of you may know that I like a good go on the karaoke, I mean yeah I have horrible, sometimes debilitating stage-fright, and yes I shake uncontrollably when I have to stand up in front of a crowd and sing BUT put a few drinks in me and give me a crowd that actually seems to appreciate it and I'll have a grand old time. 
I get asked all the time why I've not gone on the X Factor etc and the answer is always the same...I have! The audition process is shocking, and in all honesty if I had to sing for a job I wouldn't like it anymore, so i'll stick to a few bars at the karaoke club and annoying Damian by singing around the house ALL THE TIME! 

I guess the point of telling you this is that this weeks Music Monday will be me sharing my go to karaoke songs :-)...Please share your favourite song to belt out, whether that's at home or in a crowded bar full of drunks.


I'll admit I prefer the original versions of this song...and the Imogen Heep version that is playing while *SPOILER ALERT* Marrisa lies dying in The OC, but this version is the most popular in karaoke books, and this is one of those songs that if you sing it well once people will still be asking you to sing it 5 years later!!

Honesty time...I first sang this song because I was in a bitchy mood and the skank the guy I was dating slept with was in MY BAR! Lol how shocking does that sentence read! Anyhow I was young, I got cheated on I lashed out in the best way I know how...with talent :-p. That's better than shouting, punching and breaking things right?

An oldie and a goodie!! I grew up singing this song in little "bands" I started with friends at school. We used to perform it at old folk's homes-minus the costumes of course!! It became a sort of running joke between us that if we were going to karaoke I should just dress up as Cher, (and then an ever supportive group of friends formed the Cherettes-because they THOUGHT they were funny- I'm looking at you Craig, Dave and Dave!)

This is one of the more recent additions to my repertoire. It's a true 90s/early 00s dance tune and it's actually one of Damian and I's songs, that we sing to each other all the time (feel free to make vomiting noises here). It's probably going to be the first dance at our wedding too. 

I know this probably sounds like a weird song for karaoke but it had been stuck in my head for almost a week and I kind of just walked around the house singing it on repeat. When we went into town last week Damian snuck off to the DJ and put me up to sing this, and it was actually a lot of fun...so it earns a space in my list.

Evening folks, It's seems that it is already Monday again (how did that happen?) which means it is time for round two of Music Monday's. 

Gonna keep it really short and sweet tonight folks because I am so very sleepy *yawn* so here we go.

So i'm guessing I'm not alone in having certain songs I listen to depending on the mood i'm in or the mood I am heading towards. I have all these little playlists set up on Youtube that are organised by mood, I mean hello it's me even my mood music is organised by theme!!

Ooh almost missed the deadline but had a big day!! 

Right my first wish Wednesday is going to be a quick one...

I wish that awards show people would stop giving awards to idiots like this... 
This Johnny Cash looking wannabe hard man MIGHT be a brilliant musician but with egotistical rambling twat assed "speeches" like his last at tonight's Brit Awards he just turns me off and makes me listen to a different band! 

Sorry Alex Turner, the Brits people might not "invoice you for the mic" but I'm invoicing you for the bit of my soul that died listening to your gumph!

Music Mondays 1

I love music, although my tastes may be considered by some to be daggy, or weird or even *shudder* uncool I stand by my choices and hope you'll give them a chance before you write them off completely. 

For my first Music Monday I figured I would share with you my list of most played songs on my iPhone but it turns out that I've just been listening to Little Mix on repeat far too often so every song on my Top 25 is by them and that would be a pretty boring blog post! So instead I guess I'll give you the top 5 songs on my iPhone that aren't in the official most played list :).

1) Flying Machine by Everly- Great band, great songs, so sadly unrecognised in the wider world.

2) Towers by Little Mix- There had to be one mention, this album track from LM's 2nd album is one of my favourites. The lyrics are perfect and the tune is pretty good too.

3) Chariot by Gavin Degraw- This song is just anthemic in a very unappreciated way. Gavin's voice is so raw and pretty I regularly play this one on repeat. 

4) Four Seasons Spring Concerto by Vivaldi- I loathe to call this a song as it is actually a masterpiece of classical music. This never fails to put me in a good mood if I need it or to lull me to sleep if I'm in a typical insomnia ridden state. 

5) I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz- I love this song so much. I discovered it back in August when I was at my lowest point and it really made me appreciate the best parts of my life. The lyrics should sum up every loved up person's feelings about their other half.
