We Love...#6 // March Loves // Bumper Edition

Sunday, April 12, 2015

Woohoo!! It appears it is time for another installment of We Love...! This edition will bring you what I was loving in March. what Fiona -from Wishes, Hopes and Dreams- was loving in March, AND what my dear husband Damian was loving in March! Bumper Edition indeed!!

Right first up My loves...

I loved...Tulips!! I am so happy these are in season! Obviously I know I can get them most of the year because of science and all that but I think there is nothing better than having the flower of the season, in my home. Tulips are fast becoming one of my favourite flowers because they last so much longer than roses, and they only look better as they open.

I also loved...Unicorns!! I can't believe it's taken me so long to decide that Unicorns are just the coolest. I mean I live in Scotland, where our National animal is a Unicorn, I should have jumped on this bandwagon long ago, but hey I'm here now- and it ooks like the high street has arrived at the same time! I have gone from having no unicorn themed items to having THREE tops, and other paraphenalia! Let's have a look...

Okay this one I drew but, YAY Unicorns!

I'll share all the tops I bought in different posts, but yeah there are now three in a growing collection. If you want your own unicorn top I highly reccomend the children's section of New Look!

I also had space to love...Red Lipstick, Vegan Baking, and Art Therapy.

Okay now what was Fiona loving in March??

She Loved...the blogger support network! They really understand blogging and the issues that go with it (it's not just sitting and typing at a computer you know) they also provide help and advice whenever you need it! It truly is a lovely group to be a part of. If you are a newbie blogger then there is a great group you can join on Facebook...come join us.

She also loved...Making Mars Bar cake. Seriously this stuff is amazing!! Fiona and Vaughan helped us move house in November and she brought us some as a house warming gift, and by God it was so moreish! It's no wonder I've gained 2 stone *laugh/cry face*. Check out the recipe here.

Finally she was also loving...Rizzoli & Isles. This is an awesome female led show about a cop and a medical examiner. We both love it but Fiona is way more up to date than me. She just went back to the very start to rewatch it all again and is not afraid to admit that season four had her crying *crying face emoji*.

Well geezo this has been a long post! Thank you for sticking with me this far. In the interest of not rambling on much longer, let's look at what Damian loved in March.

He loved quite a lot of things but I think the most important one (apart from me, obviously) would be...his new toy, an XBOX One! He has literally not shut up about getting one of these for months, so when he got his bonus from his work in March we went out and finally made him a happy boy. Who wants to see his happy little face? Oh okay here you go...

Isn't he cute?? Lol.

Anyway that's been just a small part of what we were all loving in March. Hope you liked your wee nosy into our lives for last month, and if you wanna see what we were loving before March check out all the other We Love...posts.

Much Love

We Love... #5

Tuesday, March 03, 2015

Hey guys!!

Right I decided I would do the We Love... post a little bit differently to kick off this new month. So instead of a weekly round up featuring a guest, this special edition will be a round-up of what I've loved in the month of February. Hope you like it :-).

Hart of Dixie
Season 4, in particular. I used to watch Hart of Dixie quite religiously, and then it went on this hugely long hiatus, I moved house and we decided against getting a TV subscription, so my viewing habits changed somewhat. But in the last couple of weeks I remembered that it had started airing again in the States so DH downloaded it for me and Monday nights have become Hart of Dixie nights...it is actually on in the background while I write this post.

Also side-bar: Rachel Bilson had a baby and called it Briar Rose which is only the name of my favourite Disney princess so I also love her!!

My Angel Wings family
Angel Wings is a group close to my heart and on 23rd of February they celebrated their 2nd birthday!! In what has become a time honoured tradition every birthday is celebrated with an awareness event and family get together in Glasgow. I travelled down to help out and see my ladies and it was so much fun. We spent the afternoon on Buchanan Street handing out fliers about what Angel Wings does, with Fiona dancing around in a minion outfit, and then a bunch of us met for dinner at the Living Room.

Sorry for the photo overload there! These are just a few from the whole day.

Date Days
For so long our little live has been missing one thing...date night!! Damian and I are firm believers in date night, we love just setting aside some time to try out new bars and restaurants in the area and just spending time together. However so far this year date nights have been hard to come by :-(. But in February we managed to squeeze in a date day! I worked a whole week of 5am starts, which is horrendous, but has the upside of meaning I finished work before 2pm every day thus giving us the whole afternoon/evening together. We kinda just went shopping, had lunch and that was it, but it was totally enough to put a smile on my face so it makes the list!

deep fried camembert, slain's castle, aberdeen

Millies Cookies, giant cookie cake. Yum
Wow, that came out way more food heavy than I remembered!! In other news, Giant Millie's Cookies are EVERYTHING, that weird brown thing at the top is deep-fried camembert which I am assured was delicious AND we discovered that Damian does fish and chips right, and I eat like a young child i.e "can I have beans with that, ooh and no green stuff!!"

And lastly, in February I have really been loving how well my blog is growing. It really goes to show that if you put effort into something it will pay off. This month I have been approached by brands, acquired loads of lovely new followers, and been invited to my first bloggers event. I am so excited for the future, and while all these things are, of course, lovely, I remember to tell myself every day that my blog was started for me, and it will continue to be my little corner of the world. So whether I get 3 views a day or 3000 my content will be the things I want to feature, and the opinions will be my own.

Thank you for reading folks.

Much Love

We Love...#4

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

Hi Guys!

So regular readers will notice that this week's We Love...post is a touch later than usual. I can only apologise but sometimes we just get too busy living life, to blog about life. But here I am, ready and raring to bring you the things I have been loving from the past week!

I Love... Random trips to the Art Gallery!!
On Sunday me and Damian went shopping, but on the way to the shops we realised the Art Gallery was open so we popped in to see if there were any new exhibits (and to see my favourite piece). The Gallery always makes me happy, there are so many clever and pretty things to see and on this occasion we didn't even go upstairs!
Here's some of my favourite things from this trip...
This piece is so pretty. It is made of woven paper and fabric, and the colours flow and change as you look at it. I can just imagine having this on my wall.

I had to chuckle at this. Mainly because it reminded me of a time when Paris Hilton was considered the year's biggest star!! According to the artist he uses captions from magazines and newsreels etc as a way to comment on a moment in time. Clearly it is just a blank canvas of colour but the caption is supposed to illicit an image in the viewers head.

AND MY FAVOURITE PIECE EVER?
This neon light piece by Tracy Emin just keeps drawing my attention. It is so simple and very reminiscent of the "Girls, Girls, Girls" signs that were so prevalent in the 80s, but this one has such a lovely message. I know it might be quite difficult to read in the photo but it says "I felt you and I knew you loved me" which I think is just so sweet.

I Love...Yankee Candles. It's not just the candles either. I love the wax tarts you get for melting, I love the shop, in general, which is so welcoming and smells amazing. I just love all things Yankee. We have quite a few of their products in the flat already but a random trip in on Sunday saw us come home with just a few more.
We got all of these for less than £10!! I was so excited by the Lemon Lavender candle jar because Damian hates Lavender and wouldn't let me take it into the flat before. Thankfully he sniffed this and realised that the lemon was the more prevalent smell so...YAY.
The beach flowers wax tart smells so much like where we got married we just had to have it, and we are both big fans of anything fruity so when we saw the other two were half price, they went flying into our bag too.

I think the thing I love most about Yankee is that they burn really well, and there is little to no smokiness (unlike some of the higher end candles out there). That and the scents are so strong, but so far, not overpowering.

I Love...finally this week I love having a massive clear out. I was hella hungover last Tuesday but for some reason my mind decided it wanted to blitz the flat. I literally did not stop for hours, rearranged the entire kitchen, threw out a ton of old make-up, and washed every dish in the flat! It was a pretty good day. Photos of the kitchen are below. I'll be doing a seperate post about how I organised my beauty products soon.

Yes that is a knife stand, in the style of a X-Wing fighter!!

Funny story...a week later it is STILL this tidy! I know, I'm shocked too.

Now this week's guest is my mummy!! I couldn't have my sister one week and not have my mum the next so say hiya to the woman who birthed me...

I like to call this the "stop taking photos while I'm trying to drink" face.

She Loves...Bargain hunting. I mean who doesn't like finding a good bargain every now and again? But mum, she's the bargain hunting master. If it's on eBay mum will have it, if it's white, mum will have it, if it is angel related, you better believe mum will have it! This past week she got a new NAO ornament for just £10 r.r.p £85! How's that for a bargain?

She Loves...Bailey. Her gorgeous kitty cat. He's the newest addition to the McCahery pet family, and by God is he not the most adorable kitten ever. Bailey came into our lives after our old-man cat Toffy passed away last June. Mum says that Bailey never fails to make her smile, which is a pretty good job for one little pussy cat. Who wants to see photos??

Just look at that face!! Adorable, no wonder she loves him.
And one more now he's a little bit bigger...

Finally, what do we both love?

We Love...mum's exact words here were "apart from George lol" and she's right we do both love my daddy but for the interest of not sounding smarmy as hell, she decided to go with...handbags. And she's not wrong, you know. If you were ever looking to see where I got my handbag obsession from, you would only have to look as far as mummy. I'd never really thought about it this way but mum said "I could use one every day, and still have loads left over". I have one photo of a small part of my collection and I'm sure mum's is around the same size...

This hamper is fit to bursting with some of my favourite bags, some I've bought, some mum bought for me,  and some I may have freed from her wardrobe (she has enough it's not like she'd notice!!) haha, only joking mum.

Anyway that's your lot for this week's Loves. Check out all the other posts in this series here
What have you been loving this week? Do you have a favourite scent from Yankee that you think I should check out? Leave me a comment and let me know :-).

Much Love

We Love...#3

Monday, February 09, 2015

Hi guys!
It's apparently that time of the week again. I've been working all afternoon so this is a bit late but we always get there in the end.

This weeks guest is my "little" sister Cheryl. There are 7 years between me and my sister but I honestly think that at our age you really don't notice the age gap anymore and I would definitely call her one of my best friends (Only now though, when we were younger I hated her with a burning passion-only kind of joking Chez :-p).
Isn't she pretty?? Sorry about the lighting but this was taken in our mum's lounge and basically with all the white furniture it works like a giant lightbox :-).

Anyway on with this week's loves...

I Love...Katy Perry! I mean have you seen the Superbowl half-time show yet? If you haven't, seriously you need to...in fact I'll make it easy for you.

This is one of the best Half-Time shows I've seen in a long time, and it honestly just made me love Katy Perry so much.

I Love...My Little Box. I have done a whole post on the January box here but I had to include it in my loves because it was fab. I received my first box this week and already I'm chasing the Postie to see where the February one is. Not only is it cute, but now I've actually had time to try the products inside I can say without a doubt that it was worth every penny too.
She Loves...Her new vintage driving gloves! This weekend before I went to work, Cheryl, her friend Doris, and I went to a Vintage fair in town and it was lovely. Cheryl said she loved it which is always good (because she is notoriously hard to please). She picked up these gorgeous gloves and a wee vintage teacup that had been re-purposed into a sewing type thing (don't ask me to explain lol, Cheryl might share a picture of it with us in the comments).
She Loves...walking Buster. Now let me be clear here Buster is a dog, an adorable, but a bit fat, King Charles Spaniel to be exact. He belongs to our grandad and it used to be my job to walk him and then I went and got myself a full-time job AND moved into the city centre! Thankfully Chez has started this year off right with Operation Skinny Buster (he really is very fat!) and she takes him for all sorts of wonderful walks around Aberdeen. This week she said she loved being outside in the fresh air with him, and meeting lots of other dogs, she also said humans which is where we differ because she seems to like that and if I'm honest it's my least favourite part of any day *insert laughy face emoji here*!
I don't know what it is about photos Cheryl-centric but it appears she is being followed around by a large bright ball of light in every photo!!
We Love...um so I'll admit that I forgot to ask Cheryl for something she thought we both loved (and now she's in bed, that's old age for you!) but I think I can come up with one she will agree with.
Let's be soppy and go with...having a sister!
I love having a sister because even though we fought like cats and dogs, told each other we hated each other, and made up lies about escaped robbers in the area, forcing the other to sleep with a toy gun under her pillow (her to me by the way, and don't ask what I thought I was going to do with a toy gun.) I always knew that this girl would have my back forever! And I'm sure she'll admit that she loves having a sister because she's got a friend that she can literally bat her eyelashes at and get anything she wants. I'm talking make-up sessions, leg-waxing (good God woman you are so bad at getting this done!), fashion advice, the list goes on. And I actually think she secretly loved having a little her to pick on when we were growing up.

Well, that's our loves for another week. What were you loving this week? Do you subscribe to My Little Box or are you considering it? Do you have a midget older sister that you would protect for life? Leave me a comment and we can chat :-).

Oh and if you want to find out more about the people who guest in the posts, or who get mentioned in the majority of my posts the click on the Main Characters tab at the top of the page and have a nosy.

We Love...#2

Monday, February 02, 2015

Hi guys and welcome to the second of our We Love...series!!

This weeks special guest is my best friend and fellow newbie blogger Fiona Abbey. So we'll hear my three loves for the week, Fiona's two and then of course our combined thing we both love.

So without further ado:

I love...my friends! This weekend was Superbowl weekend and that meant only one thing SUPERBOWL PARTY!! I'm going to do a real post just about the party but the point in making here is that my friends are hilarious, and smart, and just the coolest people on earth :-).

I love 2...Twitter. Over the last week or two my Twitter has become such a part of my daily routine. From getting to know fellow bloggers to having some of my favourite authors actually interact with me, it's been a great Twitter time :-).

I love 3...washi tape. I've always loved washi tape for scrapbooking and the such but this week my washi tape addiction has gone stratospheric! I decided to jazz up my writers buruea and now thanks to washi tape it looks like this
Isn't she lovely!!

And of course because once I start I can't stop I also decided to put some photos up on our wall. Because we are renters we aren't actually allowed to make any alterations to our living space so washi tape and blu-tac are my best friends. Here's my little wall...
Work in progress but I think it looks good so far.

Now for our guest's loves...

She loves...the House of Night series. I suggested these to Fiona because I love them and now she does too!! Like seriously she has literally binge read the first six books in the series a like a week!

She loves 2...watching trash TV while her husband is away for work. We all have guilty pleasures and some of us have evil husbands/partners that roll their eyes and laugh at us when we want to sit and watch Glee (actually on while I write this!) or Hart of Dixie or any other typical American fluff show. I think Hart of Dixie is Fiona's particular favourite this week.

And finally...

We Love...organisation. It's one thing we have in common and it's definitely a huge part of our lives. It's nice having a friend that doesn't laugh at you when you finish cataloguing your wardrobe into files on your computer...this is done by size btw and no I am not ashamed! 😂😂.

What have you been loving this week? Let me know in the comments, ad come over and chat to me on Twitter.

Much Love
Aj xx
