My 30th Birthday Look

Saturday, July 08, 2017

I promised on Instagram I would do  a little post about my 30th birthday. A what I wore, what I did kind of thing so here we are.

This year's soiree was quite a bit more subdued that previous years'-there were no costumes, no crazy themes, no 3 day benders in Newcastle. It was just me and my favourite people, having dinner in my favourite hotel, and drinking into the wee small hours, and it was fabulous! I loved it, and as a reformed party girl I think I might have been missing a trick all these years (who am I kidding I loved every minute of those too)!

So what did I wear?
Well my absolute favourite piece of my whole outfit was this last minute addition...isn't it gorgeous 😒

Yeah so I managed to totally bugger my arm the week leading up to my birthday so this beauty is my new accessory de jour! Luckily for my mood the outfit underneath this bad boy was so perfectly me.

I spent about 20 minutes picking dresses to try on from the sale (ya girl's not made of money you know) rail at New Look only to spy this dream on the way to the fitting room. Honestly I don't think there is a single other item of clothing that sums "ME" up quite so perfectly. Annoyingly this one has actually been added to the sale since I bought it *sob* and can be yours for £24. Thankfully for my bank account the shoes were in the sale when I got em and they are actually surprisingly comfy. Damian picked them though so I can't take all the credit-they aren't online anymore but these are quite similar.

I know as a blogger I am supposed to document everything but I think I maybe took a maximum of 3 photos all night so I don't actually have one of me all dressed up :-/ but I did take this one in the dressing room when I bought it!

Time for Makeup:

I am totally obsessed with my Anastasia Beverley Hills palette that I picked up when we were in Florida so that is the base of every single makeup look I have done recently! If you've never heard of Manny Mua I highly recommend checking out his tutorial for these eyeshadows he's a genius, and even I can follow his videos.

I love all of these products so much, so imagine my despair when half way through the night Fiona told me that Estee Edit were shutting and I wouldn't be able to get my beloved Flash Illuminator every again :-O! Apparently I don't like to make it easy for myself because my favourite lipsticks are only available from the US and customs charges are a bitch!!
On birthday night I wore:
  • Urban Decay All Nighter in 1.0 (this stuff oxidises about 2 shades darker so shop down a shade or two), I actually like to mix in a touch of liquid highlighter with my foundation to give my face an all over light.
  • Estee Edit Flash Illuminator
  • Sleek Soltice
  • Modern Renaissance: Golden Ochre mixed with Burnt Orange, Venetian Red, and Vermeer.
  • Kylie Cosmetics Koko Collection 2 Shade Bunny with a dot of Sugar Plum gloss on centre of bottom lip.

I was going to do a bit about what I got too but it turns out that I was spoiled this year, that I have enough to fill a whole other post! So stay tuned for that if you are into that sort of thing.

I also absolutely promise that the next time I do my makeup, or wear this outfit I will make a concerted effort to take decent photographs for you all. Or at least take some before I'm drunk!

What did you do on your last birthday? Did you know that W7 Cosmetics have come out with this amazing dupe for Modern Renaissance? Can anybody find me a replacement for my Estee Edit illuminator 😭?

OOTD // BIG FLOOPY FUN // ENGAGEMENT PARTY

Wednesday, August 05, 2015

Heeeeeelo!!

It's not often I get to dress up and have fun nowadays so I was super excited to raid my closet and come up with the perfect outfit for my brother (from another mother's) engagement party. Before we get to the nitty gritty I would just like to say a huge "congratulations" to Dave and Fiona, and wish them all the best for their upcoming nuptials and the future. But hey y'all just really wanna see what I wore don't ya?!?

OOTD

Excuse the unmade bed, I was too busy trying on half my closet!!

It even sits right when I'm sitting down! Just wish my necklace wasn't back to front :-(

I freaking love this bag! Ted Baker is my go-to guy for night out clutches.
What I wore:
Ruched polo neck, cropped sleeveless top- Primark (old as the hills so no idea how much it cost)
Bonded Full Midi Skirt- Topshop (£20 in store sale, get it before it's gone!!!)
Black croc effect courts (not pictured) - New Look (24.99 I think)
White PVC Quilted Ted Baker Clutch- Cruise (£51)

I managed to keep my face out of all these photos which is rather surprising!! Lucky for you I took a "getting ready" mirror selfie (because my front facing camera is buggered) and here's a massive close up of my face just for all you special people :-p...

FOTD

Oh My God...what colour do my eyes look to you?? Answers in the comments if you please!
Are you guys ready for this, because it takes a lot to make me look human...

Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Hypnotist-Bare Minerals (£16.00)

WOW!! Does it seriously look like I have that much on my face? I bloody hope not, do you people see what blogging has done to me. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a fucking brow kit until I joined the blogging community!

Anyway, hope you enjoyed a peek at my outfit and face for the night. I'd love to know what your go-to products are, and if  your "natural" face takes as much as mine lol.

Much Love

OOTD: Monday Night Edition

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

Well now, if you follow me on Twitter you will know that I ended up out on the party train on Monday night...this may have something to do with the fact that it is now Wednesday and I'm only just getting round to posting this OOTD! Hangovers are the devil, that is all.

But yeah before I got all kinds of drunk on Monday I managed to take a few photos of the night's outfit so here we go...

I love how simple this outfit is, yet how perfect it is for a Monday night out. I don't love how my black jeans seem to have attracted every white bit of fluff and dust in the vicinity, but hey ho.

So the details:
Jeans- Black 1969 Skinny Regulars from GAP- £49.95 (I paid £35.01 because they were doing 30% off if you tried on any pair of jeans!!)
Top- very old plain black top from GEORGE at ASDA. I think this cost about £4.
Kimono- I love a good blousey kimono top and I found this one in the Warehouse sale for £8!
Shoes- Croc patterned black strappy courts from New Look- £24.99

I have this issue with shoes where I need an ankle strap or they just slip right off my feet, I know that sounds silly and I should just buy my size BUT a 3 is always too small, and a 4 requires a strap. So when I found these I had to have them, and they are so pretty, and go with absolutely everything.

I am also a huge fan of black jeans, but my favourite pair are having an argument with my ever expanding waistline at the moment, so I had to purchase these new ones. They are very long for a regular though, considering I have stupidly long legs for a short person, I've never had this problem before, but rather than walk away from these otherwise perfect jeans, I just utilised the turn up :-).
I also just have to say that if you are looking for a comfortable, yet still stylish, pair of good-quality jeans then you can't go wrong with GAP, I have three different pairs from their 1969 range and love them all.

Right you might have also noticed that I seem to have quite a lot more makeup on than usual- I am making an effort to use all the stuff that clutters up my bathroom. For this particular night out I am wearing:

BY TERRY- Bronze Generation eyeliner
Benefit- Roller Lash Mascara
Benefit- Face Powder in Dandelion
Benefit- High Beam Highlighter
MAC- Pro Longwear Lip Liner in Nice 'n' Spicy
Collection 2000- Lipstick in Peachy Keen.
and
Bare Minerals- Marvellous Moxie Lipgloss in Hypnotist

Anyway,, I love this outfit, I felt comfortable all night, and the minute I arrived at the darts I was asked how I knew we were having a proper night out. I took this to mean that I looked like I had made an effort lol.

Leave me a comment with your thoughts on this outfit, or take a look back at some other outfits by clicking the OOTD label.

Much Love

OOTD: Our Valentine's Day

Sunday, February 15, 2015

So if you've read our Lets Talk About Love post you will know that I had to work yesterday :-(. So we've decided to take today to do fun stuff together, have a nice meal and just enjoy each other's company.

With that in mind...we're going shopping!! Haha. I saw this gorgeous pair  of Prada shoes in a shop pre-payday so we are going back to see if they are still in stock. There is also a Polaroid camera on my list that just looks perfect for me so fingers crossed it's still available.

So what does one wear to go shopping in February when it's very cold out?

I love these colours together I think they just look so sweet, and this cardigan is surprisingly cosy.
Cardigan: Oasis (very old, it used to be Cheryl's way back when).
Blouse: Zara (I think a year old maybe!)
Jeans: Gap (Gap have the best mid-range jeans. These are so soft, comfortable and have really retained their colour well).

And of course a walk round town would be uncomfortable in anything other than flats, which is where my trusty TOMS come in to play.
Shoes: TOMS from Office (£16 in the sale!!)
I love the print on these, it's so colourful and I guess quite Aztec-y.

Face and hair brought to you by me (duh)!
Seriously though I used my new BY TERRY kohl in Bronze Generation, a slick of Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie in Hypnotist, and that's it. Throw my hair up in a bun and it's time to go!

Check back later for an update on our shopping trip :-).

Much love

What I wore today!

Monday, February 10, 2014

It was bound to happen eventually so here is my first outfit post.

What I wore on my feet:
Jason Wu + Melissa Pink Lace Pumps. (Cruise).

I love these and not just because they have owls on them. They are a collaboration range with Fashion legend Jason Wu, and shoe genius Melissa, who's range with Vivienne Westwood has made her popular amongst us stylistas that like a bit of quirk with our footwear. They are made of this strange rubber material that moulds and moves with your foot so no pinching or slipping. Just beautiful.

What Made up the rest of the outfit...

Skinny jeans (Banana Republic)

These are my favourite jeans at the moment. Despite the photo looking awfully dark these are in fact navy, with little blue fleur-de-lis. These are basically me dipping my toe in the water of patterned jeans. They are so soft and while I may have bought them a size too big cos I'm a ninny, they still look smart and can be dressed up or down.

Beige thick knit jumper (Primark)

This is my go to jumper when It's cold, it's a bit baggy, but keeps its fitted shape, and the classic knit style never gets old. Under the jumper I have on my go to burgundy silk top from French Connection, which I have found is actually really hard working. Despite it's strong colour it goes with most of my wardrobe and I've worn it to parties, drinks with the guys, Uni and even as part of a business meeting uniform. French Connection do amazing seperates, it's just a shame there isn't an Aberdeen store anymore :-(.

Finally...what I carried my life in.

Alphabet Bags-Notonthehighstreet.com

Love, love, love this bag!! It was a gift from my girl Alexandra, who clearly knows me so well. This bag looks smallish but I holds so much stuff it's crazy, it really is the perfect bag for a student.

That's it for today...I don't wear make up unless I'm going out for a night out so none of that here, I am planning on testing out some BB creams soon though so may share my thoughts on that.

Much love
