My Little Box March Edition // Superhero Box // Spoilers

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

Oh my god how much do I love My Little Box?! This month the excitement started as soon as they sent out the little hint email you get just before your box arrives- keywords like Superhero, Wonderwoman, and fabulous- excited my inner geek and outer feminist. So when the lovely postie lady knocked on my door on Thursday with my package I couldn't wait to rip it open. Let's have a look inside shall we...

I'm not gonna lie I literally squealed "Ah stickers!!" When I opened the box, I love a good sticker -In fact there are some more in my Payday haul post which is going live tomorrow. Anyway underneath the stickers were this months copy of My Little World, our little fabric bags of beauty treats and a weird tube like gift.

I desperately wanted to see what was inside the tube, but the blogger in me was repeating "no Aj you have to take pictures first!" so I waited until I got home from work and had taken all the pretty pictures you see here.

What's in the box?
Stickers
My Little World
Gat Rimon t-shirt
Beauty Bag

The Gat Rimon t-shirt is so cool, but a bit thin. In the theme of superheroes the t-shirt has the phrase 'I believe I can fly' printed on it and I love it. The model on the front of My Little World is wearing one which says 'We can be heroes just for one day' which I would have loved even more but when the t-shirt cost £29 retail, I can't really complain can I. I will say though that putting clothes in a beauty box can be risky for a company that doesn't take details from subscribers like size etc, this t-shirt is one size and It's really baggy on me, looking at it on I would say it would fit a 12-14 perfectly.

What's in the bag?

Kérastase Cristaliste Conditioner 75ml
This conditioner sounds so much like what I need for my hair! It promises luminous silky hair, and who doesn't want that. Recently my hair has been getting very oily on top and dry and fuzzy at the ends so I've been searching for a new conditioner...are the people behind My Little Box psychic?

You know I think they might be because the next gift in the bag was...

Caudalíe Paris Gourmet Hand and Nail Cream 30ml
We're told this hand cream is organic and contains anti-oxidants so yay natural! In comes in such an expensive looking tube (which is always nice). My hands have always been really dry but lately with pulling a metal trolley every day I've been getting calluses and even drier patches so I'm hoping this helps...stay tuned!

And last but by no means least:

My Little Beauty Lips & Cheeks Crayon
Once again the packaging is cute as a button (and straight out of the Topshop makeup range if you ask me) and the product inside isn't too bad either! This is a creamy product that slides on like a dream. It's essentially a lipstick that you can use as a cheek stain, and who doesn't love double duty products. I'm not really a big blush wearer, I prefer the contour look if I'm honest, but this is the perfect coral colour for my lips.

So yeah, once again My Little Box have made me more than happy to part with my money each month. Have you signed up yet? What do you think of this month's box? Want me to make signing up even easier for you? Well alright then here you go...My Little Box.

Much love

My Little Box: February Edition *SPOILERS*.

Friday, February 13, 2015

Hi guys,

Words can not express how much I love My Little Box. I'm only on my second box ever but I'm pleasantly surprised, yet again, by just how high the quality of the products is. So without further ado lets have a look inside...
The theme this month is "Frenchie" and the box is a collaboration with the wondeful Ines de la Fressange (click on her name to read all about her).

 So what's in the box:

  • A cute and awesomely handy smartphone case
  • Your February copy of My Little World
  • A Message (or 28) in a Bottle
  • An invite for Londoners to attend an appointment at the BY TERRY counter in Harrods.
  • and, of course, the beauty bag!

This is too cute AND my iPhone 6 fits! I was a little worried my phone wouldn't fit but it does, however if you have anything bigger than the standard 6 I don't think it will. Of course, you could use it for your iPod instead. It also has a cute little pouch at the front for earphones, train tickets, business cards, or whatever takes your fancy.

I think quite literally this says "The Little Words of Ines" but I could be wrong. According to the box there are 28 little messages, all wrapped up like scrolls, for you to open whenever you need a little inspiration or just a pick me up after a bad day. I think this is such a cute and quirky gift and can't wait to open my first one.

Now what's in the bag:
FOUR, yes you read that right FOUR beauty products as opposed to the usual three. They truly are spoiling us in February.
  • BY TERRY kohl in Bronze Generation
  • L'Oreal Brow Plumper
  • Complexion Corrector by My Little Beauty
  • and 100 Blotting Papers by DHC
Oh, did I not mention that these are all FULL-SIZE products? No samples to be seen!

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that Kohl is my essential make-up item, even when I'm not in the mood to wear make-up, don't have time or just want to make myself look more awake, I reach for the eyeliner. Usually, I wear Dior but I'm loving the hint of a sparkle in this BY TERRY version so can't wait to give it a whirl.

I've never even considered using product on my brows before because I've always been cursed with these big bushy caterpillars (thank you McCahery family genes). So yeah when I was younger I tried to avoid drawing attention to them. Now, however, big brows are in (Thank you Cara Delevigne) and I'll be giving this a shot to see if I can't tidy them up and give them some oomph!

This complexion corrector seems like it could be a godsend in this horrible weather. In the cold I am left with red patches all over my face, in seemingly random places. I'm hoping this evens me out, and it has a peach tint so I'll at least look fruity ;-).

Now I admit I probably won't use these because I am cursed with extra dry skin, and avoid oily products for this reason. But I am sure if you were prone to oily skin then these would be a great product for mattifying you throughout the day.

Pretty great haul don't you think. The only problem I am seeing with My Little Box is that I can't wait for the next one (I'm very impatient!). If you were on the fence about signing up before, then I suggest you do it now before you miss anything else cute and awesome!

What do you think of February's box? Have you received yours, and do you like it as much as I do? Leave me a comment below and let me know.

We Love...#3

Monday, February 09, 2015

Hi guys!
It's apparently that time of the week again. I've been working all afternoon so this is a bit late but we always get there in the end.

This weeks guest is my "little" sister Cheryl. There are 7 years between me and my sister but I honestly think that at our age you really don't notice the age gap anymore and I would definitely call her one of my best friends (Only now though, when we were younger I hated her with a burning passion-only kind of joking Chez :-p).
Isn't she pretty?? Sorry about the lighting but this was taken in our mum's lounge and basically with all the white furniture it works like a giant lightbox :-).

Anyway on with this week's loves...

I Love...Katy Perry! I mean have you seen the Superbowl half-time show yet? If you haven't, seriously you need to...in fact I'll make it easy for you.

This is one of the best Half-Time shows I've seen in a long time, and it honestly just made me love Katy Perry so much.

I Love...My Little Box. I have done a whole post on the January box here but I had to include it in my loves because it was fab. I received my first box this week and already I'm chasing the Postie to see where the February one is. Not only is it cute, but now I've actually had time to try the products inside I can say without a doubt that it was worth every penny too.
She Loves...Her new vintage driving gloves! This weekend before I went to work, Cheryl, her friend Doris, and I went to a Vintage fair in town and it was lovely. Cheryl said she loved it which is always good (because she is notoriously hard to please). She picked up these gorgeous gloves and a wee vintage teacup that had been re-purposed into a sewing type thing (don't ask me to explain lol, Cheryl might share a picture of it with us in the comments).
She Loves...walking Buster. Now let me be clear here Buster is a dog, an adorable, but a bit fat, King Charles Spaniel to be exact. He belongs to our grandad and it used to be my job to walk him and then I went and got myself a full-time job AND moved into the city centre! Thankfully Chez has started this year off right with Operation Skinny Buster (he really is very fat!) and she takes him for all sorts of wonderful walks around Aberdeen. This week she said she loved being outside in the fresh air with him, and meeting lots of other dogs, she also said humans which is where we differ because she seems to like that and if I'm honest it's my least favourite part of any day *insert laughy face emoji here*!
I don't know what it is about photos Cheryl-centric but it appears she is being followed around by a large bright ball of light in every photo!!
We Love...um so I'll admit that I forgot to ask Cheryl for something she thought we both loved (and now she's in bed, that's old age for you!) but I think I can come up with one she will agree with.
Let's be soppy and go with...having a sister!
I love having a sister because even though we fought like cats and dogs, told each other we hated each other, and made up lies about escaped robbers in the area, forcing the other to sleep with a toy gun under her pillow (her to me by the way, and don't ask what I thought I was going to do with a toy gun.) I always knew that this girl would have my back forever! And I'm sure she'll admit that she loves having a sister because she's got a friend that she can literally bat her eyelashes at and get anything she wants. I'm talking make-up sessions, leg-waxing (good God woman you are so bad at getting this done!), fashion advice, the list goes on. And I actually think she secretly loved having a little her to pick on when we were growing up.

Well, that's our loves for another week. What were you loving this week? Do you subscribe to My Little Box or are you considering it? Do you have a midget older sister that you would protect for life? Leave me a comment and we can chat :-).

Oh and if you want to find out more about the people who guest in the posts, or who get mentioned in the majority of my posts the click on the Main Characters tab at the top of the page and have a nosy.

My Little Box: January Edition

Thursday, February 05, 2015

Now I know those of you who subscribe to My Little Box, or just follow bloggers who do, will be like "January Edition? It's February love keep up!" But I only subcribed midway through January and just received my first box and had to, had to share it.

To those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about let me enlighten you. My Little Box is a subscription beauty box along the same lines as BirchBox, GlossyBox et al. This one is from a company called My Little Paris and is one of the slighter cheaper options at only £11+ p&p a month. I've never really thought about signing up before but one look at past boxes had me popping my details into their website faster than you can say "Shut up and take my money!".

So without further ado step inside my first box with me:
January's box knows that you want to do better his year, it knows you want to be the best YOU possible and it's here to help.
Doesn't that look like an awful lot of cool stuff to get sent to your door for less than £15?!!

Contents:
1x Affirmation card by their in house illustrator.
1x Copy of My Little World magazine
1x Calendar
1x Gym Bag
1x Beauty Bag-with this months beauty gifts inside.

So what's inside the beauty bag?
Only a full size bottle of bloody (no pun intended) Nails Inc nail varnish!! This colour is called Tate and is like a proper red. Not an orangey red, not an "it might be dark pink" red, but a proper deep, sultry, sexy red. It's literally already on my fingers.
My Little Box have their own range of products called My Little Beauty (funnily enough) and this months product is an energising mist for face and body. At 75ml, this is a decent sized bottle that'll go a long way, and with vitamin c and green tea in the ingredients it promises to wake up even the tiredest of skin. I can't wait to try it.
And last but by no means least the wee beauty bag produced this 30ml tube of Photo-Hydra Day from Talika Paris. The tube States that this moisturiser uses natural light to deeply moisturise your skin and that sounds all kinds of sciency and cool. Everyone who knows me knows I have very dry problematic skin so I'm eager to see what this can do.

So yeah I'm pretty chuffed with my first box and can't wait to try out all my new products, including this cute calendar...

And this spectacularly roomy gym bag...

What do you think of My Little Box? Do you subscribe already or are you considering doing it and want an honest opinion? Leave me a comment below and I'll share my thoughts on each product with you :-).

Much Love
